I was very unwell last week and went to my local Asda store for medicine and ended up leaving £40 cash back in the self scan machine! I know this is my mistake and realise that not every body is an honest as me but I did try contacting customer service in case it had been handed in. As expected, it hadn’t been, I then continued to query this by asking security to check the CCTV cameras to see who took it, they told me that on this occasion the cameras were not facing the till I was on (I find this hard to believe!).
I have called and spoken to both the duty manager who promised to get back to me the next day which they did not, this was 3 days ago, I called again today and spoke to the manager who said he was unaware of this issue and will get someone to call me back.
I am very confused as to what to do next? If someone else has picked this up then I need to report it as a theift with the police but then I do not have evidence to back this up. For all they know I have picked it up myself!
Any advice you could give would be much appreciated.
