Dear Sir,

I do not normally follow up any complaints or times when I think that something was not right but last night Monday 23rd May 2011 at approximately 8pm, I was subjected to a humiliating experience by the manager/ team leader of the Wetherspoons branch in Leeds City Station.

I work at Lloyds Banking Group and the 23rd is the payday for our business. After withdrawing a substantial amount of cash for myself and bills I entered the premises to treat myself to a curry and a pint. The lady barstaff had taken my order and had just pulled my pint when the manager (whose name I have not got) told her to refuse serving me due to the fact that he thinks that I am homeless. He embarrassed me in front of his staff and the Customers who were present drinking/eating and it was the most humiliating experience I have ever had.

Last year I had a few personal issues and stayed at a variety of places within my family. When I didn’t have the chance to stay at family I stayed at a B&B in the City Centre which is why he thinks that I have no place of my own.

I work in a business where my Customer Service has to be of the highest order and if I showed a fraction of the disrespect that your manager showed me last night I would be subjected to severe disciplinary.

Contrary to your manager’s belief I have turned my life around and I am now more settled than I have been for most of 2010. I am absolutely non confrontational but I cannot allow the humiliating experience of last night to pass me by and I would like to be kept informed on how you address my complaint and what you are going to do about it to stop it from happening to anyone else. I subsequently went to McDonalds for my tea and was made to feel welcome.

Please investigate why I was treated this way.

Kind Regards

David Hart
