Keep your money don’t shop at Argos. We ordered a washing machine last Monday evening their web site stated in stock delivery within 5 days. They took the money within 24 hours approx 48 hours later we received an email asking us to ring an 0845 number many nights and a Saturday morning later (be careful of this because after 7 minutes you get cut off and have to redial) we found out that it was not in stock for another 3 weeks. I sent them an email on Saturday asking them to cancel the order and return the money to the account by 1400hrs on the Monday. Having heard nothing from them and no money having been returned I tried ringing again eventually got through to find out it takes 5 days to refund the money, apparently this is the bank not them. Maybe if they had waited until the goods were in stock before rushing to get their hands on our money this might not be happening. I just want the money that they took knowing full well they could not honor the contract so I can go buy another washing machine.
When I questioned the fact that when they took the money from the account they had agreed to the terms of supplying us a washing machine within 5 days they told me that having ticked the box to say we agreed to their terms we wavered what ever it said on their web site and their refund policy was quite clear. So Argos’s policy is take your money, hold it and deliver when they feel like it. It has cost us a fortune in telephone calls to them and the launderette bill will be at least £40.00 take into account the amount of family time lost and you have a big waste of space. My Mother in law bought this as a present she is in her eighties and is totally upset about the fact that someone can take her money and not supply the service. Don’t shop for it at Argos buy it cheaper with less stress elsewhere
