As VERY regular visitors to Wetherspoons all over the country, I have to ask just why the Greyhound in Maidenheahd is so very bad for foods.
My husband and I were there this evening (3rd November) which happens to be steak night. He ordered a sirloin steak medium rare and I ordered the gammon with eggs.
When this pile of rubbish arrived, the steak was VERY overdone. The meat was clearly good meat but severely overcooked. What was described as two succulent 5 oz gammon steaks actually turned out to be 4 very thin slivers of gammon, almost burned on one side, and once again VERY overcooked. This, I have to say was certainly NOT good meat!! As to the eggs, yes … two of them HARD. Altogether, two inedible meals, one of which was sent back. I will say at this point that the manager was uncaring and almost rude as he asked what was wrong with the plate of inedible c**p.
It is clear that this food had been pre-cooked, although on your menus it clearly states that the food is FRESHLY PREPARED. Not so!!! In fact, I’m afraid this must be against trades description. **
We have found many problems with the food served at the Greyhound over the years, and STILL keep persuading ourselves to “give it one more chance” ……. always leaving thinking “why did we do that”!!!
Its a great shame that the manager thinks so little of his regular customers, that he feels it is o.k. to treat them with such disregard.
I would be pleased to hear your views on this matter as soon as possible. Many thanks
June Webb
** This is a fairly serious problem for Wetherspoons if they insist on advertising freshly cooked food when is it very clear that this is nothing like the case, as it is against the law and therefore must be looked at carefully.
