To whom it may concern,
My good friend and I had been out in Sheffield on Sat 4th June and had a very pleasant evening. My friend lives in Chapletown and we thought it would be nice to finish off in the local village rather than stay in town all night. We arrived at Weatherspoons in Chapletown (Waggon and Horses) and had a couple of drinks, met a few of my friends neighbours and acquaintances and generally were having a lovely time. We decided to get another drink before heading home and the bar man refused to serve us as he said we were too drunk. I was totally astonished by this as we had just been having a detailed conversation with another gentlemen about classic cars and the mechanics involved etc…not something you can participate in when drunk. I asked to see the Manager as I was unhappy and quite upset about the judgement of the bar man. The Manager did come to see us and he actually apologised as he said he could see that we were not drunk and there had been a mistake. He said we could have another drink but the night was ruined as far as I was concerned. I felt very deflated by the attitude and wrong judgement made by the bar man and even more so when the Manager actually agreed that we were not drunk and we could have another drink. We left after this and went home. This did spoil my night. It is important for me to make this point as some people would just have walked away and accepted that they could not get served but this should not have happened to my friend and I. I do not want any action taking against the bar staff and I did not even take their names as the location gives enough information but I would appreciate an apology as I think we both deserve this at least. My friend is a regular visitor to Weatherspoons as he was brought up in Chapletown and has never had an incident like this in all the time he can remember. Thank you for your time
Kind Regards
Nicola Brearley.
