I was just sat here on the DFS sofa, typing on my Sony Vaio laptop trying to think of something to complain about, when it hit me.
Like a quick shot of Absolut lemon vodka.
The thing that really infuriates me beyond belief is people who insist on brand naming all items they buy or own, just to make sure you know it was expensive and that they only have the best of everything.
We all know at least one person who does it. See if the following sounds familiar:
“I was out yesterday in the Mercedes, and I realised I’d worn the wrong Dolce and Gabbana shoes with my Chanel skirt. As if that wasn’t bad enough, I remembered I’d left a stew in my Le Crueset pot boiling on the stove, so I got my iPhone out of my Mulberry bag to call home…”
Why must people do this? It always makes me dislike them, and immediately gives the impression that they’re arrogant.
It’s that ‘I’m better than you because I have this’ attitude, and it’s incredibly crass and unattractive.
A Mercedes is also just a CAR. An iPhone can be just a PHONE. We can understand what you’re talking about without the branding. I have a number of nice things but don’t feel the need to brand them all during conversation because none of them are really that important to me. None of them will put an arm around my shoulder when I need to be comforted.
They’re just things people. Just things.
