Dear Sir/Madam,
Proposed Pedestrianised Scheme – Sheep Street
With reference to the proposed pedestrianisation, I would like to make the following observations;
I am not totally against this proposed pedestrianised scheme for Sheep Street .
My real concern is that with the recent removal of the market place car park, which has already had a detrimental effect for my business. I would like to see the council keeping a good public transport link to the town centre and should investigate a proposal to have all buses dropping/collecting passengers at the bus depot in Northampton Road which is in close proximity of the Town Centre .I also feel that the parking scheme which is being proposed along sheep street should take on board the current difficult economic climate and other schemes to which many other local towns have adopted by example offering free parking for a sensible limited period and if we do not offer people the right incentitive to come and shop in kettering we will find many of them going to other towns with far more superior facilities(i.e sensible parking control) and better selection of SHOPS!!
I hope the council will take into consideration all the facts given by people working and living in the town before implementing a plan for this scheme as the wrong approach will have a detrimental impact for both local residents and businesses which in turn will make our town the laughing stock of the county or even worse becoming a GHOST TOWN!!.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs K West
