I ENTERED MY LOCAL TESCO BRANCH ON THURSDAY 22ND APRIL 2010 TO LOOK FOR ENGLAND ACCESSORIES FOR ST GEORGES DAY SO I FIRST LOOKED DOWN THE SEASONAL AISLE.I COULDNT SEE ANYTHING THERE SO I SCOURED THE STORE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE APPROACHING A MALE MEMBER OF STAFF STACKING KITCHEN ROLLS,I ASKED “DO YOU SELL ANY ENGLAND THINGS FOR ST GEORGES DAY PLEASE” TO WHICH HE REPLIED WITH A SURPRISED LOOK ON HIS FACE “NO I DONT THINK SO MATE IN FACT I DONT THINK THEY EVER HAVE.FIRSTLY SHOULDNT A MEMBER OF STAFF REFER TO HIS EMPLOYER AS “WE” AND NOT “THEY” IF HE IS REPRESENTING THE COMPANY AND SECONDLY THE SURPRISED LOOK ON HIS FACE WAS THAT HE COULDNT BELIEVE I WAS ASKING SUCH A QUESTION AND NOT THAT HE WAS SURPRISED TESCO DIDNT SELL SUCH ITEMS.SO HOW SILLY I WAS,AN ENGLISHMAN LIVING IN ENGLAND GOING INTO THE LEADING SUPERMARKET IN THE COUNTRY ASKING FOR ENGLISH ITEMS TO CELEBRATE ST GEORGES DAY ASSUMING TO FIND THEM IN THERE AT ALL,WELL WHAT AN ABSOLUTE UTTER DISGRACE YOU ARE TESCO,I THEN ASKED ANOTHAR MEMBER OF STAFF THE SAME QUESTION JUST AS A MATTER OF INTEREST TO WHICH SHE REPLIED “THE STAFF ARE ALLOWED TO WEAR RED AND WHITE TOMORROW” TO WHICH I REPLIED “WELL YOUR NORMAL UNIFORM QUALIFIES FOR THAT SO ITS NOT EXACTLY FANCY DRESS DAY THEN IS IT”. DONT TELL ME IT MIGHT UPSET SOME OF OUR FOREIGN FRIENDS RESIDING IN OUR COUNTRY OR IS IT SOMETHING MORE OF A SIMPLE REASON THAT NONE OF THE STAFF HAPPEN TO KNOW THE ANSWER TO, AMAZINGLY THERE ARE STILL A FEW ENGLISH PEOPLE LIVING IN THE COUNTRY AND ON OUR SPECIAL DAY WHERE WE ARE PROUD TO BE ENGLISH AND PATRIOTIC TESCO RUFUSE US THE CHANCE TO CELEBRATE AND INSTEAD FILL UP THE SEASONAL AISLE WITH MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THINGS LIKE GROW BAGS AND GARDEN GNOMES,I REST MY CASE TESCO WE NOW KNOW WHERE WE STAND ALTHOUGH I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHY YOU DONT SELL ANYTHING WITH A RED CROSS ON IT.
