So everybody has their own walking pace? I agree, a lot of people like to take their time with things, me too, but walking at the pace of a snail and taking so much of their time that they become years older just by the time they are done looking at a shop is not a great thing to experience.

Now there’s nothing wrong with strolling around town window shopping, or just shopping in general, but some people really do need to get to places quickly (like work). Every Saturday is like a game of pinball for me trying to get to work, couples, pushchairs and crowds of people love shoving their way past and into me the entire (what should be five minutes) journey. All the while, crowds of people, pushchairs and couples are dawdling either side of the market stands, taking up the whole pavement…

That seems not too bad right? Wrong. They not only waddle along, the sway!? I mean, nowhere else would you see an entire town’s space taken up with people who can’t walk in straight lines. So not only am I dodge, duck and diving to avoid giant shopping bags and people who’re on a mission to shop, I now also have to manoeuvre myself in and out of people who somehow manage to block me off whenever there is an opening, I don’t even know how…

So after that troublesome journey which usually makes me behind schedule for being at work, I then embark on trying to walk faster than is humanly possible to get to my destination. Some really long strip of road/pavement lies ahead after the stressful walk through town, and now I have to practically run alongside cars to get to work, but that isn’t the frustrating part.

The frustrating part is that no matter how much pressure I put on my body, I swear I cannot walk faster than a snail escaping salt, which is hypocritical of what I said earlier…but that’s not the point anymore. It seems that in town, people walk like penguins, but as soon as they hit that stretch of annoying road to Gunwharf, they suddenly have jetpack powered rocket boots. Now I know that sounds a bit suspicious, but how else do they 1) make that transition between slow and fast, and 2) manage to overtake my poor excuse of speed walking with no effort whatsoever?!

No matter where people go in life, there will always be people…being slow…or…fast. Damn people and their different speeds of walking.
